Convert Folder into Drive
It actually adds a new drive in My Computer with your specified drive letter(whatever you specify) and that drive actually points to your designated folder. Once you open the drive, you can access the folder.
The DOS command SUBST is used to create a virtual drive allowing you to add any file path and used as a drive.
SUBST [drive1: [drive2:]path]
drive1: Specifies a virtual drive to which you want to assign a path.
drive2: Specifies a physical drive and path you want to assign to a virtual drive.
For example, to create a virtual drive with a specified path:
• Find a folder you want to use as a drive and remember its path. For demonstration i will be using ‘E:\Avi’ as the path.
• Open Command Prompt and type “subst drive-letter path”
• For example, type “subst I: E:\Avi” and press Enter
Now you can easily access that folder by just typing I:
Removing the Virtual Drive:
To remove the virtual drive, go to Command Prompt, and type subst I: /D.
/D Deletes a substituted virtual drive.
Create Folders And Files With NO Name
Just follow the following steps:
1.Select any file or folder.
2.Right click on it, press rename or simply press F2.
3.Press and hold the alt key. While holding the Alt key, type numbers 0160 from the numpad.
Note: Type the numbers 0160 from the numpad, that is, the numbers present on the right side of the keyboard. Don’t type the numbers which are present on top of the character keys.
4.Press Enter and the nameless file or folder will be created.
Reason: The file or folder that seems nameless is actually named with a single space.
Speeding up the display of folder contents in a folder containing video files
At times it takes too long to open a folder, especially if it contains many video files. Here’s a way to speed up the display of contents. The delay arises because Windows tries to read the bitrate and the codecs used for previewing the video files. You can prevent the delay with a registry tweak. Select ‘Run’ from the Start menu, type ‘regedit’ and click on ‘OK’.
Navigate to the key ‘HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAs sociations\.avi\shellex\
PropertyHandler’, right-click on ‘Default’ and delete it. Confirm the query with ‘Yes’ and close Regedit. In most cases, it should solve the problem. If you have
videos encoded in multiple formats, it slows down Explorer. In that case, you can disable the preview. Select ‘Run’ from the Start menu and enter ‘regsvr32.exe /u shmedia.dll’ and confirm with ‘OK’. You can undo the change by re-registering shmedia.dll. Simply enter ‘regsvr32.exe shmedia.dll’ in the ‘Run’ dialog box to reverse the process.
Change the Default Directory of Software Installation
You may want to change the location of your system default folder (C:\Program Files) from C drive to another system drives (D or E drive). By default software setup will attempt to install program in C:\Program Files directory. It is good practice to make the backup of the installed programs, if you installed all your programs in other than C drive. If you have little knowledge about editing windows registry then you can configure your computer for this purpose. Follow the given steps to configure windows registry: 1. Click on Start button then type Regedit in Run option. 2. Here navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion 3. In right side panel, double click on ProgramFileDir. 4. Now modify the value to any other drive (for example D:\Program Files). Now close the registry editor and restart your computer after any changes to go into effect.

Make your Folders Private
Making your folders private in Win XP/Vista without any extra software! Just follow this simple procedure: •Open My Computer Note •To open My Computer, click Start, and then click My Computer.
•Double-click the drive where Windows is installed (usually drive (C:), unless you have more than one drive on your computer).
•If the contents of the drive are hidden, under System Tasks, click Show the contents of this drive.
•Double-click the Documents and Settings folder.
•Double-click your user folder.
•Right-click any folder in your user profile, and then click Properties.
•On the Sharing tab, select the Make this folder private so that only I have access to it check box.
•This option is only available for folders included in your user profile. Folders in your user profile include My Documents and its subfolders, Desktop, Start Menu, Cookies, and Favorites. If you do not make these folders private, they are available to everyone who uses your computer.
•When you make a folder private, all of its subfolders are private as well. For example, when you make My Documents private, you also make My Music and My Pictures private. When you share a folder, you also share all of its subfolders unless you make them private.
•You cannot make your folders private if your drive is not formatted as NTFS For information about converting your drive to NTFS
How to access folders from your taskbar
This is an easy way to get to the folders on your system without having to open a Windows Explorer Window every time you want to access files. I find it very useful to have this feature as it allows me to access my Folders and Drives immediately and saves me a lot of time.
This works in Windows XP:
1. Right Click an empty spot on your Taskbar (Between your Start Button and your System Tray).
2. Click Toolbars.
3. Click New Toolbar.
4. A Small Window will Open that allows you to pick the folder you wish to make a Toolbar. If you want to access your Desktop Without having to minimize all your windows. Just Pick Desktop. If you want to access ONLY your My Documents Folder, Select that. Any folder will work for this.
5. Click OK.
The New Tool bar will appear at the bottom of your screen next to your System Tray.
If you find this to be not useful, Repeat Steps 1 and 2 and then check click the Toolbar you created that has a check mark next to it. And it will disappear.
Adding content to Right click
Once done, you will be able to right click any file or folder and use the Browse for Folder dialog to choose the location you want to move or copy your file or folder to, without having to go to the destination path.
First we will add the copy and move options to the right click menu of all FILES.
CLICK Start>Run, type REGEDIT and click OK to open up the registry editor and make your way to this key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT->*->shellex->ContextMenuHandlers
Right click the ContextMenuHandlers key and choose New>Key.
Name the new key “Copy To” (without the quotes).
Repeat the above and create another new key named Move To.
You should now have two new subkeys under the ContextMenuHandlers key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT->*->shellex->ContextMenuHandlers\Copy To
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT->*->shellex->ContextMenuHandlers\Move To
Select the Copy To key and in the right hand pane, double click “Default”
Enter this clsid value as the value data:
{C2FBB630-2971-11d1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}
Next , select the Move To key and in the right hand pane set the default value to:
{C2FBB631-2971-11d1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}
This now takes care of the Copy and Move options for the right click context menu of all your files.
Now all that is left is to add the same options to the right click menu of all your folders.
The procedure will be the same as for files but at a different key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shellex\ContextMenuHan dlers
Right click ContextMenuHandlers and create a new key named Copy To.
Right click it again and create another new key named Move To.
left click on the right hand pane, add the same default values as you did for Files:
For Copy To:
{C2FBB630-2971-11d1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}
For the Move To:
{C2FBB631-2971-11d1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}
Exit the registry and you are done.
Now when you right click on a file or folder, you should see two new options: Copy to Folder and Move to Folder

See Hidden File and Folder without having Folder Option
I can't see Hidden files/folders in my computer. Even I enable the option "Show hidden files/folders" in "Tools -> Folder Options", its automatically disabled again.
Solution1: Go to your Start menu, click on Run and open up your Registry Editor by typing "regedit" without the quotes and pressing OK.
Once there go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folde r\Hidden\SHOWALL
Delete the value CheckedValue. (Its type should be REG_SZ and data should be 0 or 1.)
Create a new DWORD value called CheckedValue (same as above, except that the type is REG_DWORD) by right clicking on the right pane->New->DWORD Value. Modify the value data to 1 (0x00000001).
Solution 2: Open regedit and goto:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
In right-side pane, change value of "Hidden" to as following:
1 - To show hidden file
2 - To not show hidden files
If it doesn't work, then scan your computer with an anti-virus software.
